Year 2 of Carolina Herrera’s fashion scholarship for young women

In 2022, Carolina Herrera launched the first ever Carolina Herrera Social Justice Scholars Program, in partnership with New York's Fashion institute of Technology (FIT). The scholarship supports female students through four years of study towards a bachelor’s degree. After a successful year with the first FIT scholar, Paloma Sánchez Maria, we are proud to announce the continuation of the program with Jasmin Mendoza, a new FIT scholar. “The Impossible doesn't exist for women,” says Mrs. Herrera. “Education is the key to a fabulous future.”

As part of our pledge to tackle the underrepresentation of BIPOC women in higher education, and nurture future generations of women in fashion, the scholars will also receive intern and apprenticeship opportunities at Carolina Herrera. "Carolina Herrera and FIT both believe,” says Carolina Herrera Creative Director Wes Gordon, "that knowledge is power”.

The Museum at FIT houses the largest external collection of the Carolina Herrera archive, and Mrs. Herrera has mentored countless FIT students over the years. “I can't tell you how thrilled I am to see my name on a scholarship at FIT, a New York institution I feel so close to,” says Mrs. Herrera. "There's no better way to lift up the next generation of entrepreneurs and designers than through education and empowerment.”
