Met Gala 2025: Celebrating Superfine

with Anne Hathaway

Actress Anne Hathaway wears custom Carolina Herrera to the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit 2025, in a look designed by Creative Director Wes Gordon. Anne wears a structured column skirt in contrasting black-and-white stripe crystal embroidery, with oversized white cotton button-down shirt and point-toe mules in black.

Anne’s look honors this year’s theme, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, drawing inspiration from AndrĆ© Leon Talley—an iconic Black Dandy and close friend of Carolina Herrera. He was the first to interview her as a designer in 1981 and remained a devoted supporter.

ā€œThe white shirt is about the person and the way they wear it that makes it different.ā€

– Carolina Herrera

Wes designed a black-and-white crystal-embroidered column skirt for Anne, echoing Herrera’s iconic striped tailoring. A crisp oversized white cotton shirt—cherished by both Carolina Herrera and AndrĆ© Leon Talley—anchors the look, tied at the waist in a nod to the effortless flair of Dandyism.

ā€œIt is a moral code to dress well. Whatever your budget — you can wear a white shirt… and be well dressed.ā€
